Experience in design, technical leadership and engineering review
Fire safety design for demanding projects requires an integrated understanding of fire and smoke dynamics, building geometry, human behaviour and system performance — and how their interactions inform design decisions.
I.R.M Engineering combines accumulated professional experience with analytical tools, modelling and engineering judgement. We examine scenarios, assess alternatives and develop practical engineering solutions that integrate safety requirements with project constraints, operational needs and client objectives.
Our leadership and professional teamModelling helps answer design questions: how smoke spreads, what this means for escape routes and how the safety strategy performs.
Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) supports assessment of smoke movement, heat distribution and smoke control system effects under design fire scenarios. The analysis helps evaluate visibility and tenability, and compare smoke management alternatives.
Evacuation models analyse occupant movement, pre-movement times, egress capacity and bottlenecks. Considering user characteristics and evacuation scenarios helps assess the required escape time and inform design decisions.
Engineering assessment combines safety objectives, design assumptions and evaluation criteria. This can include assessing available safe egress time (ASET) against required safe egress time (RSET), and the safety margin within the scenarios studied.
Engineering services tailored to the project and its stages, from safety strategy and early design through approvals and review to construction and occupancy.

Eng. Itay Mesika's experience includes leading safety engineering on national-scale projects, mega-projects and complex buildings across varied uses, including the following representative sectors.
Mass transit systems, railways, stations, tunnelling, roads and complex infrastructure networks.
Residential, workplace, retail and multi-use environments, with interfaces between occupants and systems.
Cultural venues, high-occupancy spaces and public institutions with diverse occupancy and evacuation characteristics.
Healthcare and educational institutions, industrial environments and energy storage facilities, alongside sites with specialist operational requirements.
These representative sectors illustrate the breadth of experience and are not an exhaustive list. They refer to the leadership's accumulated professional experience, including work before the company was established.
Experience as consultants and technical reviewers working with authorities, public institutions and government bodies, and coordinating with clients, operators, developers and design teams — including international teams.
Familiarity with design and review processes helps identify material issues, explain the engineering basis of alternatives and support informed professional decisions.
I.R.M Engineering operates through a professional team led by Eng. Itay Mesika, a safety engineer with 20 years of experience in fire safety engineering and technical leadership of diverse, demanding projects.
Throughout his career he has served as a technical director, senior consultant and design reviewer, leading safety design, assessing engineering solutions and coordinating with design teams, management and authorities. His experience includes rail and underground transportation infrastructure and buildings across many uses.
California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly), USA
He holds a bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering and Management from Ariel University and a master's degree in Management and Safety Engineering from Ben-Gurion University. His work combines analytical tools, fire, smoke and evacuation modelling, and knowledge of Israeli and international standards.
Under Itay Mesika’s leadership, the company team brings together fire safety, occupational safety and accessibility expertise. Working across disciplines connects analysis, design and technical review, supporting projects through construction, operation and occupancy.
